Clients and projects

PJC works closely with the UK Department for Education (DfE) on wide-ranging policy formulation, qualification development, assessment design, standards analysis, research, and accessibility programmes from 14-19 and adult education and training, with a strong focus on delivering measurable improvements to performance, quality, and standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.

PJC works with the UK’s leading awarding organisations (AOs) developing academic, technical, applied, and essential skills qualifications, assessments, and associated teaching and learning materials, while helping them respond effectively to evolving government policy and regulatory requirements. We carry out wide-ranging policy investigations, consultations, and comprehensive research and evaluation work across 14-19 and adult education and training policy and practice (including GCSE, A Level, and technical and vocational provision).

PJC works with sector support agencies (e.g. SDN, ETF, AoC, UVAC, Gatsby Foundation) and centres to deliver support programmes for diverse areas of technical, vocational and skills-based education and training, improving learner engagement, performance, and outcomes, and ensuring that centres, employers and other users are fully informed, and appropriately trained and resourced to respond to changing requirements.

PJC works closely with higher education institutions (HEIs) and other specialist agencies (such as AlphaPlus) on research, assessment development, and skills delivery projects, with an important focus on the use of technology and data.

PJC also works internationally, conducting research and evaluation, providing policy advice and guidance to national government departments, and supporting policy development and quality and standards improvement programmes for various public and private sector clients. This includes carrying out wide-ranging research projects, comparative analyses, and evaluation work on different education and training systems, in-depth investigations into quality and standards improvement programmes, areas of innovation and emerging practices, and effective methods for aligning education and training provision with dynamic labour market requirements, national priorities, and wider social, economic, and technological needs.
